I'm thinking that this could prevent the rubber portion of the mount from moving excessively and tearing prematurely, like the OEM mount did. It certainly can't hurt anything.

Hydraulic are fine, replaced mine 4 years ago now i think and not leaking yet (50k on them). Yes there are 3 mounts total plus 2 dog bones. The aftermarket mounts are not perfect as far as fit goes in my experience. Had to grind a hole or two for optimal fit.
