Ray tracing difference

WebRay tracing uses shadow rays to tell whether a light source illuminates an object. But a shadow ray is cast in only one direction, and can only hit one point on an area light. To implement area lights exactly, a different shadow ray would be needed for each point on the surface of the light. WebThe result is a technique that has significantly different capablities than conventional ray tracing. Ray tracing is particularly good at rendering point light, specular reflection, and refraction. Radiocity, on the other hand, effectively renders models containing area light sources, and can produce diffuse reflections, realistic shadows and color bleeding effects.
