I noticed that the high E string emits this nasty ringing/ buzzing sound when I press any of the frets (mostly noticeable in lower fret , especially 2nd) I tried to adjust the truss rod and even adjusting the string height but same issue occurs. This is really frustrating. This is a new Elixir string. WebUpon investigation I found that my G,B, and high E strings are not ringing (with nothing touching the fret board). Any idea why this would happen literally over night? To clarify the guitar itself produces little/no sound from those strings, it's not the amp. Also, the sound returns in those strings the further up the fret board I fret. Thanks!

I had this problem on one of my guitars and it turned out to be caused by "dry" metal on metal contact where the fine tuners screw in. A drop of WD-40 fixed the problem.
