New Weston was founded in the 1880s during the construction of a railroad line through Allen Township by a predecessor of the Cincinnati, Jackson and Mackinaw Railroad. It was one of the last communities to be founded in Darke County. WebA narrow gauge line, it was converted to standard gauge in 1881. At some point, it became the Cincinnati, Van Wert and Michigan Railroad, and eventually connected Jackson, Michigan to Franklin, Ohio.
